Manhattan Facial Plastic Surgeon Jon Turk Featured in Harper’s Bazaar Article about Dermapen® Skin Rejuvenation By Jon Turk on November 01, 2012

A young woman with smooth, soft skin.Manhattan facial plastic surgeon Jon Turk is featured in the September 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar in an article about Dermapen® skin therapy treatments. Dermapen® is a new skin rejuvenation system that effectively smoothes facial wrinkles, minimizes the size of pores, diminishes the appearance of scars, and erases visible signs of aging. The feature follows the acclaimed Fifth Avenue surgeon as the treatment is administered to several patients, all of whom are making the journey toward having more flawless and youthful complexions.

Dermapen® works by piercing the surface of the skin to stimulate healing below the surface, which in turn sparks the production of healthy new collagen. The thin electronic device uses several tiny, vibrating, fractional micro-needles to gently puncture the skin at a specified speed and depth. The resulting damage to the skin’s surface is so small as to be undetectable, yet enough to signal to the body that new, fresh skin needs to be produced. Recovery time is typically less than a day, and results become apparent within one week of treatment. The treatment takes approximately 40 minutes to perform, and targets six regions of the face, including the neck, chin, upper lip, cheeks, nose, and forehead. The innovative skin therapy system has been recognized by beauty experts worldwide, and recently won the award for “best professional skin rejuvenation device” at THE Aesthetic Show™.

Manhattan restorative and cosmetic facial plastic surgery specialist Jon Turk characterizes the Dermapen® system as "revolutionary." He further states that, in his opinion, "anyone ages 35 to 60 should be getting these treatments." Dr. Turk feels that Dermapen® produces results similar in quality to such dermal treatments as Fraxel laser therapy, but with fewer negative side effects such as extended periods of swelling, redness, and discomfort. The Dermapen® treatment has been growing steadily in popularity since the beginning of the year, and many surgeons have hailed it as one of the most important advances in skin rejuvenation technology.

Patients of Dr. Turk’s practice are generally advised to undergo four Dermapen® treatment sessions over the course of eight weeks to achieve optimal results. He frequently combines Dermapen® therapy with radiofrequency skin tightening.

Dr. Turk has been voted by his peers as one of New York’s top surgeons for the past several years, and was most recently named one of “America’s Best Doctors” by New York Magazine.  His reputation for professional excellence led to his being invited to join the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery’s “Face to Face” program, which provided reconstructive surgery to victims of the Bosnian War.
