Smokers’ Lines By Jon Turk on November 06, 2013

Manhattan Smokers’ Lines TreatmentPerioral wrinkles, commonly referred to as smokers’ lines, are among the most obvious and visible signs of facial aging. Smokers’ lines refer to the fine lines, deep lines, and wrinkles that form around the mouth. Perioral wrinkles form vertically above the upper lip and can be incredibly difficult to treat, especially with creams, lotions, and other anti-aging treatments designed to be used at home. Smokers’ lines can leave a person looking older and more tired than they actually are.

At his practice in Manhattan, facial plastic surgeon Jon Turk customizes smokers’ lines treatment to each individual patient. Utilizing Dermapen®, Exilis®, and BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler, Dr. Turk can soften lines, stimulate collagen production, and fill fine lines, creating a more youthful, refreshed, and rejuvenated appearance for the patient.

Dermapen®

The Dermapen® stimulates new skin growth through a series of micro-needling treatments. Targeting the skin of the upper lip, the Dermapen® system softens lines and cracks, and promotes the growth of new skin by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. The Dermapen® treatment dramatically increases the rate at which topical treatments are absorbed in the skin, thereby significantly improving the effectiveness of such solutions.

Exilis®

The Exilis® is a non-surgical radio frequency device that utilizes temperature controlled energy. This temperature controlled energy is delivered to targeted areas of the body without becoming too hot. Through a series of treatments, the Exilis® System is able to tighten loose, sagging skin, smooth wrinkles, and remodel the collagen network within the body. One of the greatest advantages of treatment with Exilis® is the formation of new collagen. The remodeling of the collagen network of the body promotes the production of new, stronger collagen. As a result of the formation of stronger collagen, patients can experience significant and long-lasting results:

  • Smoother, more youthful looking skin
  • The appearance of less wrinkles
  • Tighter, firmer skin

BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler

Among the newest dermal fillers used today, BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler utilizes hyaluronic acid (HA) to fill in and soften lines and wrinkles. BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler is designed to smooth, fill, and soften the difficult to correct vertical wrinkles found above the lip. The hyaluronic acid comprised within BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler binds to water. This binding action fills in and plumps the treatment areas. Immediately following the injection of BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler, patients can expect to see results.

Combining Treatments for Excellent Correction

All of the treatments listed above offer the patient improvement in the appearance of his or her perioral wrinkles. While able to provide nice improvement in the appearance of perioral wrinkles when used independently, the above treatments work best when used in conjunction with one another. To achieve excellent correction and significant improvement in the appearance of smokers’ lines, Dermapen®, Exilis®, and BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler may be combined. By combining treatments patients can achieve superior, yet naturally looking results.

Most of the creams, lotions, and serums found at the beauty counter are not effective in the treatment and correction of perioral wrinkles. By tailoring treatment to the unique needs and goals of each individual patient, Dr. Turk can achieve excellent results.
