Facelift
As people age, the effects can be seen on the face. Creases begin to appear on the face, and the jaw goes slack while folds and fat form around the neck. A facelift can help to restore youth, vigor, and health to your overall appearance. Facelift surgery is a procedure that involves removing excess skin and fat from the face, tightening underlying muscle tissue, and re-draping the skin to produce a smoother and more youthful contour to the face and neck areas.
The Facelift Procedure
During the facelift procedure, an incision is made above the hairline, and the skin is separated from the underlying tissue. Excess skin and fat are removed, and the muscles beneath are tightened. The skin is then re-draped into a smoother and more youthful appearance.
The facelift procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis under monitored intravenous sedation and generally takes several hours to complete. Most facelift patients are up and about in a day or two, but should plan on taking it easy for about a week. Stitches are generally removed approximately five days after the facelift operation. For optimal results, other procedures such as eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty are often performed in conjunction with facelift surgery.

Facial Liposculpture
Facial liposculpture is an excellent alternative for patients seeking cosmetic improvement without the invasiveness and substantial recovery period associated with full facelift, neck lift, or blepharoplasty. This facial plastic surgery procedure entails a minimally invasive approach to the removal of fat from the face and neck. Facial liposculpture can enhance the appearance of an aged face for a more slender and youthful appearance.
The Facial Liposculpture Procedure
The facial liposculpture procedure is performed through small incisions on areas of the face and neck that are in need of contouring. A thin tube called a cannula is inserted into these areas to suction out excess fat and sculpt the face and neck to improve the facial contour.

AccuLift™ Laser Lipolysis
From Lutronic®
The new Acculift procedure provides facial contouring for the cheeks, jowl area and neckline without the need for general anesthesia and complex surgery. The third generation laser liposuction device is used to directly melt fat in the face through tiny incisions and produce skin contraction with less risk than previous laser liposuction treatments such as Smart Lipo. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and the down time is 3-5 days with mild swelling and bruising as the only side effects. Acculift removes excess fat deposits that have migrated downward in the face, can minimize the need for filler injections and is minimally invasive and extremely cost effective.
The Acculift laser liposuction device is being introduced slowly here in the states after initial trials in Asia. Only 40 highly qualified plastic and facial plastic surgeons in the entire United States are being given the device to evaluate and Dr. Turk is one of only two physicians in New York City currently performing the Acculift procedure.
