Cosmelan® Depigmentation Treatment

The Cosmelan Mask is a depigmentation treatment that reduces the appearance of skin discoloration brought on by hormonal imbalance, photo(sun) damage and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation in all skin types. Cosmelan works by blocking the body’s biological process that causes skin discoloration. Active ingredients lighten existing discoloration while inhibiting discoloration in the skin’s deeper layers from surfacing.

The Cosmelan Mask is applied by an aesthetician under the supervision of a physician and left in place for a number of hours depending on the patient’s degree of pigmentation. It is simple and safe with minimal down time and no side effects. Cosmelan should be used once a year, typically following the summer months, to depigment and rejuvenate the skin.

The treatment is relatively new in this country, having been developed in Spain, and Dr. Turk is one of the few physicians in New York to offer the treatment.
