One of the first noticeable signs of aging is wrinkles on your face and skin. When you age, the layers of the skin lose the ability to retain moisture and the skin thins out, producing less collagen over time. The layers underneath—which consist of fat cells—shrink with age and become less able to support the upper layers of skin, making the wrinkles even more noticeable. Of course, wrinkles can also be caused by aging, sun damage, and smoking.

Since the skin loses its elasticity over time, the Dermapen treatment is used as a preventative protocol. Using Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), the micro needles stimulate, or “induce,” new skin while keeping the epidermis intact and shortening the healing time.

Patients’ skin conditions and their age vary, so Dr. Turk would recommend two to three aggressive Dermapen treatments for noticeable results. However, five to six aggressive treatments will have the most dramatic effect. Once you are satisfied with the results, it is of the utmost importance to maintain collagen stimulation. You should come in for a new Dermapen treatment every 12 to 24 weeks.
