Rhinoplasty
Is the shape, size, or angle of your nose making you feel self-conscious?
An asymmetrical or disproportionately sized nose can alter the aesthetic of your face and make you lose confidence in your appearance.
Rhinoplasty from Dr. Jon B. Turk in New York, NY, can restore your facial balance and regain your confidence.
What Is Rhinoplasty?
/
This plastic surgery procedure (commonly called "a nose job") can improve the appearance, symmetry, and function of your nose. Rhinoplasty can remove excess cartilage and bone from beneath the skin to modify the appearance and function of the nose. Changes can be subtle or dramatic, depending on the specific goals of the patient.
The Benefits Of Rhinoplasty
A nose job performed by our double board-certified plastic surgeon can:
Enhance Your Appearance
Your nose is the central feature of your face. If it is crooked or disproportionately large, it can disrupt the symmetry and overall aesthetic of your face. Rhinoplasty can smooth any bumps, change the size, and straighten your nose to enhance your look.
Improve Function
A rhinoplasty can also be used to improve breathing function and heal any nasal trauma. A broken nose, deviated septum, and narrow nasal passages can all be corrected through rhinoplasty to heal, restore, and improve breathing.
Restore Your Confidence
A crooked, large, or misshapen nose can affect your overall confidence in the way you look. During your consultation, Dr. Turk will review your aesthetic goals to create a treatment plan that will have you feeling your best after rhinoplasty surgery.

Types of Rhinoplasty

Open Rhinoplasty
During an open rhinoplasty, Dr. Turk will make two incisions inside each nostril and one across the wall of tissue between your nostrils (columella). This gives him a better view of your nose and allows for more complex adjustments and alterations.

Closed Rhinoplasty
Closed rhinoplasty is a minimally invasive version of this surgery in which Dr. Turk just makes two incisions inside each nostril. Recovery is shorter due to the discreet incisions, and there is no visible scarring. This type of procedure is typically recommended for patients who only need minor alterations.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
This is a minimally invasive procedure that uses injectables rather than surgery to correct minor aesthetic issues of the nose. This procedure is not a permanent solution. Depending on the type of injectable used, it can last between 3-18 months.
Revision Rhinoplasty
Patients may need to undergo a secondary rhinoplasty procedure if the aesthetic results of their original operation are not satisfactory or if functional complications develop after the initial surgery. These issues, which can dramatically alter the appearance of the face or even impair breathing and other functions, can be corrected with revision rhinoplasty.
Revision nose surgery is considered more difficult than initial procedures. Patients should choose a surgeon who understands the complexity of the procedure to prevent the same complications from resurfacing or new problems from developing. Dr. Jon Turk is an experienced surgeon who is skilled in correcting problems for patients who have previously undergone rhinoplasty surgery. He is able to reconstruct and reshape the framework of the nose to achieve results that satisfy the patient's desires.
If you are not happy with the results your previous plastic surgeon has provided, a revision rhinoplasty may be possible.

Before you consider scheduling a plastic surgery appointment for your child, you should know the minimum age they must be for this nasal procedure.
How Old Patients Should Be Before They Pursue a Rhinoplasty
Age Boys Should Wait for a Rhinoplasty: 16 or 17
The Importance of Waiting Until You Are Old Enough for a Rhinoplasty
For those who are insecure about their noses, it can be hard to wait even a day longer for their procedure.
Still, at certain ages, the nasal area is still developing, so a trusted doctor will not want to approach it with facial plastic surgery or a non-surgical rhinoplasty.
Even if your surgery is not cosmetic and is intended to treat a deviated septum, you will likely have to wait until your face has stopped growing and developing. This is ultimately a good thing.
After all, you do not want to embark on a permanent alteration if there is any risk that it will change or even potentially require a revision rhinoplasty.
